Of 2011: A Year in Bullet Points
On January 5th, my girlfriend and I celebrated our 6th month anniversary. In January, I attended ACTF as a partner for two Irene Ryan Award candidates and as a competitor in the DTM competition.  I won the award for Excellence in Projections Design for my work on our production of RENT.  I saw some excellent productions, including Las Meninas, The Elephant Graveyard, Eurydice (Sarah Ruhl), and a...

Shakespeare...
rusticleaves: … picking up on a previous point: Shakespeare is predictable: Exhibit A: Tragedy: Everybody dies. Comedy: Someone gets married. History: enough said. … Why am I taking a course in Shakespeare next year when I already know how all his plays are going to end? Because there’s like a million more things to Shakespeare’s plays than just what happens.  His audiences...

Good morning, christopher-isherwood. Thank you...
I (try) to ask all of my new followers a question. You find yourself, suddenly and without warning (or explanation), in the ballpit at Chuck E. Cheese’s.  All you are wearing are your boxers (or whatever underwear you prefer) and a stripper bra with the little tassels that you can spin.  In the middle of a shimee, you come to and discover that all the parents are freaking out about you....

Of a Question for You
Do you think that Sweeney Todd and/or Mrs. Lovett are tragic heroes given these words from Arthur Miller’s Tragedy and the Common Man? I think the tragic feeling is evoked in us when we are in the presence of a character who is ready to lay down his life, if need be, to secure one thing—his sense of personal dignity. From Orestes to Hamlet, Medea to Macbeth, the underlying struggles...

Of What to Do with My Wal*Mart Gift Card
I should use it on necessities like cleaning products and such… But, instead, I’m going to finally buy Skyward Sword and the Follies Revival Cast Recording and then use what’s left after that for necessities. Sounds like the right thing to do… yeah… let’s go with that.

Of Emotions
I have never cried because of a gift someone got me.   Until today. My mom got me a saxophone.  I haven’t played since high school, but, oh, how I have secretly longed for one!  It was a huge part of who I was and to have one, actually OWN one for the first time ever, is just an incredible feeling.  It’s been nearly four years since I played… I’m rusty… but, Oh,...

Of Christmas Eve
This shall be the busiest Christmas Eve ever!   Danielle and I are going down to the Pittsburgh area for brunch with her mom, step-father, and step-sisters. Thus why I am up so early.  Glad to have the car-ride down to spend time with Danielle.  ^_^ Then we are coming back… depending on what time it is we might visit my grandmother and an aunt or two…  Finally, we have my...

Of Thursday Pleasantries
I had lunch today with my grandfather.  This wouldn’t normally be worth noting except that we actually had a nice, calm, discussion of politics - especially gay marriage.  He belongs to the far right… he’s always been conservative.  I was until I experienced life for myself and become significantly more liberal.  Anyway, this is a topic in which we are, ultimately, in total...

Of Wishes
I wish that, for The Dark Tower movies they could do like they are doing for The Avengers and give each individual their own film… except that in the case of The Dark Tower, they would make new films for ‘Salem’s Lot, The Stand, It, The Eyes of the Dragon, Insomnia, Hearts in Atlantis, etc. and use the same actors that do those films for The Dark Tower.  Oh, how I wish.   ...
